YOUR NEW HOME
Here are some guidelines to help you once you're settled in:
- Once you have established phone service you need to call or e-mail our offices to provide your new number. You can also use the Resident Contact Card in your move-in packet.
- You are responsible for providing any necessary replacement light bulbs for all fixtures and batteries for your smoke detector throught the term of your lease.
- It is recommended that you have a plunger for your toilet and hair traps for shower drains. You are responsible for maintaining free running drains. Please do not flush sanitary napkins.
- Please don't overload your electrical outlets. This practice causes fuses and circuit breakers to blow, and in some cases can cause fire.
- The sprinkler system heads in your apartment are connected to a water source. Do not tamper with them or hang items from them: water may release and you will be responsible for the damages.
- You must keep the hallways in the buildings common areas clear to keep other residents safe.
- Be a good neighbor. If you see something suspicious please report it to the authorities or to us. Also make sure you don't prop open security locked building entrances.
- Blinds are provided for all bedroom windows. To maintain the asthetic of the building, curtains are not allowed and blinds cannot be added or replaced. You may use freestanding privacy screens in your apartment.
- You are required to buy renters insurance. It's very inexpensive and covers your items in the event of theft, fire and more. Steve Brown Apartments will not reimburse you for lost, stolen or damaged property
- If you leave your apartment unattended for more than a day or two please turn off the A/C during the summer, set your heat to at least 60 degrees so pipes won't freeze, lock all doors and windows and remove any trash.
- Recycling is mandatory in Madison. Recycling bins are available in the trash room on your floor. Items can be mixed. Please visit the city of Madison's website for complete details.
