Things To Do

Arts:

Chazen Museum of Art, an arts center that includes gallery space, object study rooms, storage for artwork and a 160-seat auditorium for lectures and films. Located at 800 University Avenue, across the street from Lucky

Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, part of the Overture Center, MMOCA exhibits, collects, preserves, and interprets modern and contemporary art. Located at 227 State Street, 6 blocks from Lucky

Overture Center for the Arts, a $205 million facility presenting concerts, touring dance shows, touring Broadway musicals, family shows and free festivals. Located at 201 State St, 6 blocks from Lucky

Shopping:

State Street Pedestrian Mall is lined with over 200 unique shops and specialty stores featuring books, CD's, jewelry, gifts, arts, crafts, college apparel, sporting goods, women's fashions, specialty foods and much more. In mid- to late-July State Street also hosts Maxwell Street Days, a huge 6-block long sidewalk sale.

Just south of Camp Randall you'll find Monroe Street, another area filled with unique local shops and galleries. This neighborhood hot spot offers specialty gift shops, a Trader Joe's, clothing, books, and more! It's the perfect area to spend a Saturday afternoon browsing.

If you're looking for a major shopping mall Lucky is a 5-20 minute car or bus ride from East Towne, Greenway Station, Hilldale, West Towne and Westgate.

Dining:

You'll find over 60 restaurants in the State Street area. Tastes include Mexican, Himalayan, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, subs, pizza, steaks and more. Many of these restaurants also include outdoors or rooftop eating areas.

The Capitol Square area is home to some of Madison's most elite restaurants and home to many of its favorite local chefs offering local cuisine. Saturday mornings in the summer this area is also home to Madison's Farmer's Market. You'll find almost 300 vendors offering fresh vegetables, fruits, cut flowers, plants and more

Residents can also access Fresh Madison Market without leaving the building (through Fresh's main elevator) or by using the main entrance on the corner of Lake and University.

Recreation:

Bike Paths abound in Madison and many of them pass right through downtown. Popular downtown trails include the Lake Monona loop, UW Arboretum path and UW Madison Campus path that run along the shores of Lake Mendota. Underground bicycle parking will be available at Lucky.

University Southeast Recreational Facility, or "The SERF" provides fitness centers, gymnasiums and racquetball courts to all UW Madison faculty, staff and students. It is located one block from Lucky.

University Memorial Union The Union is located just three blocks from Lucky. Union membership includes access to sailing lessons through Hoofers, hourly canoe rentals and outdoor game rentals such as
